UF, of course, is the home of the Fightin' Gators, and several of the real article live there naturally. Cartoon versions of gators abound, but Lake Alice is where you want to go if you want to see the real deal. This picture was taken on a pleasant spring morning. I had actually gone to Lake Alice to watch the Ospreys feed and saw this mississippiensis in the water below. As I zoomed in to get a better focus, I became fascinated at the detail I could see in his back. I shot on Fuji 800 film with a Pentax K1000 using a 50-200mm lens. Go Gators!"
