Das Krokodil

Im heil'gen Teich zu Singapur,
Da liegt ein altes Krokodil,
Von äußerst grämlicher Natur,
Und kaut an einem Lotusstiel.
Es ist ganz alt und völlig blind,
Und wenn es einmal friert des Nachts,
So weint es wie ein kleines Kind,
Doch wenn ein schöner Tag ist, lacht's.

The Crocodile

In the holy pond of Singapore,
there lies an old crocodile,
of a very sullen nature,
and chews on the stem of lotus.
It is very old and completely blind,
and when it is cold during the night,
it'll cry like a small child,
But when the day is nice, it'll laugh.
