Paleosuchus palpebrosus
The head of a relatively young adult dwarf caiman. Cuvier's dwarf caiman appears to retain much of its characteristic juvenile colouration into adulthood. This photograph also clearly illustrates the extensive ossification of the scales on the back of the neck, providing a fair degree of protection.
