The size range of crocodiles caught
Penny demonstrating the size range of crocodiles we captured during the project, from the 9 foot adult male on the ground to the young 1 ft juvenile in her hands. Catching the latter was actually just as difficult as the former! Those juvenile normally are not caught by the nets, and require a bit of stealthy sneaking up on at night. The large adult males, on the other hand, have a habit of tearing large holes in our nets as they swim blithely through them. Resourceful to the last, we found an effective technique for catching them. We also became experts in net repair.
