A sorry excuse for a coffee break!
Here is Boyd taking a coffee break... after standing on a catfish in the mud! Catfish have three long, tough spines on their bodies - one on each pectoral fin, and one on the dorsal fin. Each contains a poison which can be extremely painful if it breaks the skin. The best way to treat catfish poison is to immerse the affected area in hot water... and drink coffee. You might think catfish caused many injuries during our fieldwork, but only four people got "spiked" during the whole project.
