Crocodylus niloticus

Adult Nile crocodile portrait. The overlapping teeth characteristic of crocodilians can be seen clearly from this picture, although this animal is missing the large lower 4th tooth nearest the camera. The scales around the mouth are pitted with "integumentary sense organs" which have a mechanosensory role. The raised nostrils at the tip of the snout are also visible.
