During the nesting season, females are exceptionally vigilant around their nest, and will act aggressively towards any approaching animals they perceive as a threat to their eggs. Although attacks on humans are relatively uncommon, a significant number occur during the nesting season. Therefore, nesting areas should be avoided at this time in order to avoid such encounters.
