The head of a leucistic adult alligator, similar in appearance to an albino (lack of melanin pigment) but where some pigment is retained - in this case in the blue iris. This particular animal has survived in captivity, but is kept indoors to protect it from harmful UV radiation. Leucistic or albino animals rarely survive under natural conditions.
