Big Gecko has a large collection of photographs, some of which are available for sale, some of which show the kind of work we do, and all of which have a story to tell. The following photographs are just a few examples, and they will be changed every so often so check back occasionally.

Pygmy Freshwater Crocodile

This is a pygmy freshwater crocodile. With a maximum adult size of only 1.5 metres total length, it is less than half the size of a normal freshwater crocodile. This particular crocodile is around 1.2 metres in length and close to maximum adult size, and it is found in the upstream escarpment areas of Bullo River in the Northern Territory. Although there may be other populations of pygmy crocodiles across the NT, this is the only one we know of that hasn't been affected by cane toads. Cane toads are a major threat to pygmy crocodiles due to their toxic nature, and Big Gecko is working with Bullo River to set up a conservation and management plan for this unique creature.
