Big Gecko has a large collection of photographs, some of which are available for sale, some of which show the kind of work we do, and all of which have a story to tell. The following photographs are just a few examples, and they will be changed every so often so check back occasionally.

Bullo River Escarpment

This is the rocky, upstream escarpment through which the Bullo River flows before dropping into the floodplain below. The escarpment is home to the pygmy freshwater crocodile, a unique population of freshwater crocodiles that grow to less than half the size of normal freshwater crocodiles. Despite its beauty, this escarpment area is tough living for a crocodile due to the dearth of food, but crocodiles simply respond by reducing their size to compensate. We think they may be genetically distinct, and one of our research projects is to confirm or deny this.
